Other items that are good value for the Cyprus visitor are Cyprus wines and spirits. Worth trying and buying in Cyprus is the local desert wine called Comandaria, which has been produced on Cyprus island for centuries, Zivania which is the local strong stuff similar to Ouzo or Raki and the local brandies and various wines. Shoes, shirts, imported textiles and spectacles are also good value for money.
Cyprus shops opening hours In Cyprus, shops open at around 8.00 - 9.00 am and close at 7.00 pm during the Winter period and at around 8.30 pm during the Summer period. From about the middle of June till end of August, Cyprus shops close from 1.00 - 2.00 pm till 5.00 pm for Siesta. . On Wednesday and Saturday shops close for half day at around 2.00 pm. On Sundays, shops in Cyprus are closed. It is worth noting that in most of the tourist areas of Cyprus, both shops and supermarkets stay open till late at night and are also open on Sundays

For your Cyprus arts and crafts, there is a large Cyprus Handicraft Centre in Nicosia and official crafts shops as well as folk art museums in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos. Many of these items can also be found in Laiki Yitonia in Nicosia and in sovereign shops. |
